My painting is in part, an act of mark-making, depicting animals that emerge from a field of gestural abstraction.  My brushwork and bold paint textures with rich expressive colors are grounded in earth tones of the natural world. My subjects – lions, cheetahs, leopards, wolves, whales, zebras, etc. – are portrayed with a passion that goes far beyond realism and borders on the elemental power of expressionist art. One might say that my paintings are a unique combination of animal imagery and modernism. They are painted in a style that combines multiple layers of space. My objects and animals seem to float in a free flowing flexible space that is vaguely reminiscent of synthetic cubist art.
